Toddler dinner
(or should I say "Twoddler" or maybe "Tweedler" since he sort of between a baby & a toddler?)
- Part of a slice of American Cheese
- A good handful of olives
- A baby dill pickle
- 2 pear halves
- A single piece of Kashi Mighty Bites cereal
- water
Unusual boy
Most (or many) babies and small children are afraid of the vacuum cleaner.
Not Zachary.
When he hears the vacuum start up, he comes crawling as fast as he can. It cracks me up.

Look at how small he was

First field trip
Today, Zachary got to accompany the Highly Gifted kids from my school on a field trip to the H G Learning Center...and boy did he have fun! (Of course, I forgot the camera...again, WHAT kind of mother AM I?)
He enjoyed "walking" around, petting the stuffed cougar, and playing with another little boy (4 years old) who came along as well.
Lucky we had such a fun morning, because this afternoon, he got a flu shot. Not as much fun as the field trip, but he barely cried, and then we went to the zoo to meet daddy for a quick tour. The animals are loving this gorgeous autumn weather as much as we are, because we saw some monkeys who were very active, an Andean Condor up close and personal, the camel, the sloth bear (in a hilarious pose...but me with no camera--tho this time it was just in the car), the tigers chasing each other and soaking in their pool, ocelots soaking up the sun, the bobcat "stalking" a zoo person, and prairie dogs dogging around. It was a lovely day, all in all.

New tricks, part 3
Zachary's latest feats of genius:
- blowing - like on food, or the mobile hanging above his crib
- crawling up and down stairs appropriately
- recognizing the sound of an airplane flying overhead
- figuring out how to change the music on his crib aquarium
- realizing that he has to step OVER a garden hose that is in his path - not trying to walk thru it (it was about at his knee level)
- beginning to wave bye-bye...tho admittedly, rather late (like after the person has already left)
- signing "more" with regularity...in fact, I think he may think it means "food"
- standing unassisted whenever he's not aware of it (and immediately sitting down when he notices what he's doing)
Oh for Pete's Sake...
I just realized that the ONLY picture I got of Zach on his 14 month birthday was the daredevil one.
That's IT.
ONE picture.
And not even with the elephant!!
ONE PICTURE.
I can't believe it.
I'm so disappointed in myself.

P.S.
I'll post some pictures tomorrow if I can...thanks for your patience. I've been taking LOTS, so we'll have some good material if I ever have the chance to upload them from the camera.
Keep checking back...sooner or later they'll be here. :) And Zach is cuter than ever, so it'll be worth the wait!
